Title: Control of flow separation in a S-duct diffuser Supervisor: Prof. Abhijeet Kushari

§Characterized the air flow in a state-of-the-art S-duct aircraft engine intake by simulating a scaled model in ANSYS- Fluent

§ Identified the most likely flow separation locations for the incoming air in the intake duct through boundary layer analysis

§ Validated flow separation locations on a scaled model through data analysis of pressure and flow sensor outputs

§Demonstrated a 40% improvement in the total pressure loss and 20% reductionin distortion characteristics at the AIP (exit of the duct) by using active (suction) flow control techniques at the vulnerablelocations.
