My name is Rayden Lee, I’m currently an NSF and will be completing my service in Jan 2025. I currently have a placement at NUS Law in 2025, and am seeking opportunities to work in law-adjacent industries to hone my skills in writing and critical thinking. To me, both lawyers and journalists are similar in the sense that they utilise the skillset of collecting raw, unsorted information and use it to craft a persuasive argument that speaks to their respective audiences.
I graduated from Raffles Institution (Y5-6) in 2022, with an ‘A’ grade in H1 GP and H1 Project Work, as well as a ‘B’ grade in H2 Economics. I’ve also earned accolades in regional writing competitions, namely the 2022 Human Asia English Essay Contest, where I clinched a consolation prize for Top 7 Essays in Southeast Asia for my essay on “Climate Change and Human Rights”.
I’m an active reader of The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao and Al Jazeera, and I have strong interests in international politics and geopolitical conflicts. With this internship, I hope to raise awareness on international issues among young audiences, by presenting often complex, multi-faceted global issues as simple and relevant bite-sized reads.
