Hilyah has over 22 years of experience in working with children and families facing varying challenges. With more than 10 years of social service management and practice leadership, Hilyah is passionate about coaching and training of social workers and social work leaders. At the same time, Hilyah believes in the importance of cultural issues in social work practice and co-authored an article “Malay Muslim Worldviews: Some Thoughts for Social Work Practice in Singapore”, in the Journal of Religion and Spirituality in Social Work.
Hilyah now freelances as a clinical supervisor for social service practitioners and conducts parenting programmes as well as consultation. In November 2023, Hilyah has been emplaced as a member Syariah Court's Panel of Child Representatives.
