Surgical and Medical Gynaecology Department

KK Women's and Children's Hospital is an 830 bed hospital that provides treatment for high risk conditions in women and children. The 32 bedded Surgical and Medical Gynaecology Ward provides clinical services for patient's requiring general gynaecological treatment and surgery, care for chemo complications, breast conditions for surgery and malignant conditions, surgical aesthetic procedures.

• Responsible for overall coordination and supervision of patient care, primarily the role of charge nurse.
• Caring for a bay 12-18 patients who have undergone gynaecological, breast and plastic surgeries, obstetric patients requiring care from early pregnancy up to antenatal 23 weeks.
• Initiates and reviews care plans based on the patient assessments and the health care team's need for a safe patient outcome.
• Performs variety of procedures such as medication administration, IV cannulation and venepuncture, care of central venous catheter, wound dressing and removal of drains, cathetrisation and bladder scanning, basic ECG, etc.
• Acts as a role model and supervises the nursing team in maintaining quality patient care.
• Develops new nurse's core competencies in nursing through precepting, coaching and mentoring.
• Assists with departmental goals yearly by observing cost containment, improving quality and safety performance.

• Performed direct care to patients in the Surgical and Orthopedic and Medical discipline.
• Develop, implement and evaluate plan of care.
• Perform variety of procedures that met patients physical and emotional needs.
• Communicate changes in patient's clinical conditions with physician, nursing manager and colleagues as appropriate.
• Provides health education to patients and families.
