Highlights:
- Adding polyurethane to cured epoxy polymers (EP) increases their elongation at break, improving the toughness of epoxy-modified geopolymers (EMG).
- Increasing the content of poly(methyl ethylene) rubber (PMER) in the EP emulsion reduces the -OH content, which limits the formation of Si-O-C bonds.
- An EMG specimen toughened with 10 wt% EP emulsion containing 60 wt% PMER can achieve a 28-day flexural strength of 5.7 MPa, which is 2.6 times higher than a pure metakaolin-based geopolymer specimen.
My graduation personal project. I studied the effect of biochar content to the water retention capacity of soil, in both dry and wet environment.
Highlights:
- The addition of biochar amendment will increase the water retention capacity of soil in both dry and wet conditions
- Water retention capacity of soil in dry condition is much better than it is in wet condition
- The biochar amendment is more effective when improving the water retention capacity of soil in dry condition.
As team leader I led a 3D mapping of a hill in the lake District, I was responsible for GPS positioning and total station operation and data export for the mapping.
The Purpose of the project was to provide a design and construction scheme for a traffic-able road and a budgeted bridge for Patterdale Hall in the UK, for which I was responsible for the design of the road surface, the drainage system and the CAD modeling of the entire bridge.
