This Xiangtian MENG from mainland China. a QFIN student from CUHK. I am obsessed with finance and have read plenty of articles about it. I used to intern at XJIB, an investment bank and Guohai Future and participate in HPGBC, a business competition that has improved my teamwork skills. Now I am in an exchange program in Singapore and looking for internship project in summer vacation.
Working as an internship financial manager in the best district of AIA. With the help of a great many experienced MDRT colleagues, I largely deepened my understanding of insurance industry including insurance, saving and mutual funds. The skills required to broaden my social network and how to get on well with the customers were also greatly improved during the process. After the the internship and with graduation from CUHK, I have built the confidence in working in insurance area.
Working as an investment assistant in the futures firm so that I could not only deepen my understanding about futures, the financial tool I was not familiar with, but could also improve my personal communicating skills when talking with the customers and colleagues. Thanks to this internship, now my interests in this area was aroused and I may consider working there in the future and I really understand how hard it could be under COVID-19 as a financial worker because most customers hesitated to invest a lot even when it comes to just a few thousand yuan.
I calculated two projects related to Hong Kong with boss. During the process, I found my boss underestimated the influence of Greater Bay Area. I searched a report to explain why we should connect one project with the Area.
Communicated with one customer who wanted to put most of his money into share market with expected high risks and relatively low interests and persuaded him to invest more carefully under pandemic. And it turned out that he would lose 1/3 if he took the risk.
Post my thoughts about the Greater Bay Area and the firm as a intern student to remind the boss how young people may think nowadays.
