1. BROMELLA RESIDENT, PUCHONG by AYER BUKIT HITAM

Bromelia Resident is the first project I participated in Jasmurni Development Sdn. Bhd as a Site Supervisor after I finished my 5 years of study for both diploma and bachelor’s degree in Malaysia. This project was started in September 2021 and targeted to be completed at first week of October 2023. This project consists of 59 units of 2 stories Terrace House, 44 units of 3 Stories Cluster House and 34 units of 3 stories Semi-Detached House including Carpark, Guard House, Management Office, Open Leisure, Basketball Court, Landscaping, and Infrastructure. I am working with a team of one Construction Manager, Two Site Managers and four other Site Supervisors. At the early stage of the construction period, I was assigned to supervise structural works for substructure and superstructure. I had a site manager to guide me and double check on the works which I supervised; this was to make sure there is no mistake. During that stage, my job scope included but not limited to excavation works to substructure, compared against what have been built on site against the Drawings issued and approved by Design Teams such as Formwork, Reinforcement Bars, Finish Level, Inspection etc.

After the structural works were completed, I started to supervise the architectural works such as brickworks, plastering, skim coat, painting, screeding, and tiling work etc. During this period, I continuously coordinate with the subcontractor closely to make sure the works can be operated smoothly and make sure all the materials used and work done have fulfilled the requirements. I also take part in the meeting with all the subcontractors in a weekly basis to make sure the works can be done on time and plan the works for the upcoming weeks. Currently the project is still ongoing, and I am in charge for the architectural works for the semi-detached house.

Besides, I also need to sign for the materials arrived to our construction site. I need to ensure that the materials sent were good in quality and matched with the specifications stated in the drawings. The materials will be kept in the store in the condition of well sorted and can be easily access when it was in need.

I also required to attend site walk with client, architect and engineer fortnightly along with my superiors. We will discuss on the problems facing during the work and ask for architect or engineer instructions if there is any variations or solutions to ensure that the works can be done smoothly and ideally. By attending to the site walk, it helps me to build up confidence when facing the consultant team and express my views.

Any Issues happened on site such as incorrect setting out, incorrect finish level or the works are not built as per the drawing. I need to find out the problem, discuss with my upline manager and come out with a solution. This allows me to gain more work experience as this is something we can’t learn from our study.

2. PV18 Residence, Setapak by Platinum Victory
