In 2025, I took part in a one-year course in Youth Corps Leadership Program as the Publicity Head of my team, Neighbour Cares. Working in a team of 11 members, we proposed our project solution to do befriending sessions and creating home engagement kits for seniors. Our team is responsible for reaching out to isolated seniors in the Toa Payoh district. We would do door-knocking, befriend isolated seniors, and bring them to community gatherings weekly for 10 sessions, over 3 runs (9 months). As the Publicity Head, I used my drawing and designing skills to craft releases and publicise our project on various social media pages such as Instagram, Telegram and the DCA webpage. I was proficient in Canva, Google Slides and Microsoft to design posters, send word-of-mouth messages and capture memorable moments with our seniors. During door-knocking, we have to converse with seniors appropriately and effectively engage with them.
Organized events for seniors in St Luke's Eldercare in Tampines. I went with a group of 10 VJC students to go to St Luke's Eldercare three times to conduct activities that will improve the elders' motor skills and allow them to have fun. We hosted games such as Bingo, Memory card, and Donkey to engage seniors in eldercare.
