Led and took ownership of the development and execution of a comprehensive Sustainable Procurement and Supplier Risk Management strategy. Formulated and implemented policies, processes, programs, and tools aimed at enhancing supplier performance while effectively minimizing risks.
Acknowledged with Takeda’s CPO Award in 2021, post Covid, for exceptional performance in managing suppliers' business continuity risks and demonstrating strong leadership in innovative due diligence approaches for PPE suppliers.
- Established the foundation of Supplier Sustainability by revamping Supplier Code of Conduct, fostering culture of supplier sustainability within Global Procurement function, and enhancing risk and compliance awareness among Global Procurement Leaders.
- Guided and directed Global Supplier Risk Management Programs, encompassing risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, monitoring, reporting, and communication. These programs included Supplier Due Diligence, Ongoing Risk Monitoring, Supplier Business Continuity Risk Management, Value Chain Risk Management, and Supplier Training.
- Collaborated closely with internal and external experts to manage Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions, aligning with Takeda’s commitments for Net-Zero operations by 2035 and Net-Zero for entire value chain by 2040.
- Worked in tandem with internal and external experts to manage Supplier Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I), focusing on small diverse suppliers' spend and payment terms in compliance with legislation like the Japan Subcontracting Act.
- Co-led efforts to establish Supplier Segmentation Frameworks, enabling strategic classification of preferred vendors. Additionally, played a key role in developing Supplier Performance and Innovation frameworks and programs.
- Leveraged Takeda’s global scale to capitalize on global, functional, and category synergies. Empowered regional and category leads to integrate best practices into their category strategies, manage risks, uphold ESG principles, and make informed decisions with agility.
- Integrated Supplier Risk assessment requirements into Acquisitions and Divestitures process.
- Facilitated rollout of Sustainable Procurement strategy revisions and training to global and regional category teams.
- Established robust communication channels to foster internal alignment, updated procurement function risk register for the Corporate Risk and Audit Committee, and supported internal audits concerning Supplier Risk Management compliance.
- Cultivated strong relationships with internal stakeholders and ensured horizontal alignment with Global and Regional Procurement management, as well as Corporate Functions such as Ethics & Compliance, Legal, Global Communication, and CSR.
- Collaborated with Global CSR team to manage Supplier ESG external stakeholder relationships and contributed to external reporting in Takeda’s Sustainability Report and DJSI reporting, among others.
- Continuously enhanced global supplier risk management practices and capabilities. Stayed informed about new legislations and industry best practices, maintaining strong industry networking presence to inform future strategy development. Innovatively introduced and leveraged digital, automation, and contemporary tools and technologies.
