• Since primary school, I have held a steadfast passion for pursuing a career in law. This aspiration has been fueled by a deep-rooted desire to help people, advocate for justice, and create a positive impact in society. At UWCSEA, I actively immersed myself in various extracurricular activities that have broadened my understanding of law and nurtured my skills.
• As a member of the yearbook journalism team, I honed my ability to convey complex ideas effectively through writing. Contributing to the school's yearbook, I realized the power of words in shaping perspectives and informing communities. This experience emphasized the importance of clear and persuasive communication, which is fundamental in advocating for others within the legal profession.
• Additionally, I am also a member of my school’s Literature Society, which allowed me to explore the ethical dilemmas and legal frameworks embedded in literary works. Analyzing the intricate narratives and moral complexities presented in these texts deepened my critical thinking abilities and fostered an appreciation for the delicate balance between law and society. This exposure to the intersection of literature and law solidified my understanding of the law's role in promoting justice and inspired me to pursue legal studies further.
• Most recently I was provided with the opportunity to join my highschool Debate Club, where I learned to construct persuasive arguments, consider diverse perspectives, and think analytically. These experiences have sharpened my critical thinking and communication skills and have prepared me for the challenges of a legal career, emphasizing the importance of effective communication and persuasive advocacy.
• To enhance my knowledge and complement my extracurricular involvements, I undertook multiple online certified courses offered by esteemed institutions such as the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University through platforms like edX and Coursera. Engaging in subjects ranging from constitutional law to criminal justice and international human rights, these courses provided me with a comprehensive understanding of legal principles, refined my analytical skills, and expanded my perspective on legal systems worldwide. Through self-directed learning, I recognized the transformative potential of the law in resolving societal issues and championing the rights of individuals. These courses provided a strong foundation in legal principle and only deepened my passion for the subject.
• In line with my commitment to serving others, I also actively engaged in various service initiatives offered by my school. These experiences allowed me to contribute meaningfully to my community, addressing social issues and empowering marginalized groups. One particularly impactful experience was volunteering at NUH (National University Hospital). Assisting patients and their families, I witnessed firsthand the importance of access to legal support and advocacy for individuals navigating complex healthcare systems. This experience only solidified my passion for helping people and trying my hardest to bring about positive change in people's lives.
• Born in India and raised in Singapore, I also possess a multicultural perspective that has instilled in me a strong appreciation for diversity, empathy, and understanding. In fact, This global outlook was the beginning of my determination to advocate for justice, particularly for marginalized communities facing social, economic, or legal barriers.
