- Assist anesthetists pre, intra and post operatively
- Ensure AU consumables, and equipment are available before operation
- Prepare consumables, drugs and equipment according to anesthetist request
- Attend to patients in resuscitation or medical emergencies
- Perform physiological and physical assessment of the patients upon arrival to PACU
- Assess patient level of comfort and administer analgesic as ordered by the anesthetist in recovery
- Collaborate and co-operate with other surgical team members and healthcare workers in the smooth delivery of patient care and services
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment with rapid response to changes in patient condition, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating concerns as needed.
- Perform a systematic and continuous assessment of patients in the immediate post-anaesthesia period
- Deliver safe and competent nursing care to surgical patients in the immediate post-anaesthesia period
- Communicate, document and evaluate patient’s plan of care
- Reduce post-operative complications through timely assessments and effective communication with the surgical team.
- Promote and maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients, staff and visitors
- Mitigate risk of falls or injuries in the recovery by implementing fall prevention strategies tailored to each patient''s specific needs.
