  • In 2002, Goldman Sachs International decided it wanted to complement its existing US clearing and execution business (SLK/FOC) by launching a European equivalent specifically aimed at Market Makers/ Proprietary traders and Equity brokers
  • I Was asked to sink my existing team into this new business and be Head of Sales for this venture and the existing PrimeAccess business
  • This new product has involved a significant 12-month project from both a sales perspective, in educating the sales team and lining up prospective clients to playing a part in the management team responsible for ensuring we were able to be successful in this sector
  • The new business went live on Sept 29th, 2003 with six initial clients and has been highly successful in attracting further clients who have made firm commitments or otherwise gone live
  • This business has subsequently merged with the Electronic Transaction Services Group and the Institutional Futures Execution/Clearing business
  • The main business focuses on the following - Electronic Execution of Equities and Derivative Instruments - Supplying Front end trading technology to clients - Providing Clearing services to NCM’s - Cross Product, cross margin haircut calculations - Margin and Trade financing - Stock Lending/Borrowing - Structured loans in the form of sub-ordinated debt if required - Dedicated Client Services/Reporting - Custody Services
  • This role has come with a large degree of independence in identifying target clients, designing and implementing sales pitches and strategies to single clients and in seminar and road show formats as well as managing the overall sales team made up from 4 VP’s in London, 1 Sales person in Amsterdam and 1 Sales person in Milan
  • In this role I reported directly to the head of Goldman Sachs Trading and Clearing Services
  • In addition to this, the existing business that I managed (see below) has grown revenues in excess of 100% on 2002 in the same period that we were growing out the new business
