  • Plan and execute the docking in a safe and efficient manner at cost effective location
  • Prepare accurate repair specification followed by RFQ/Yard comparisons, finalizing the locations of docking basis Global cost comparison
  • Preparation of Block deal contract with shipyard(s), sub-contractors, vendors for the docking services to be performed during the docking
  • Collaboration with all stake holders including Docking Superintendents, Coating Superintendents, Technical / Marine Superintendents, Ship crews, Shipyard & vendors to execute the planned works in a systematic approach
  • Supervision and monitoring of each Project with Work progress tracking, Cost tracking on daily basis and make sure timely redelivery of the vessel is paramount with safety of vessel at the best
  • Final negotiation with shipyard, vendors and subcontractor’s basis block deal prices agreed and to make sure the cost is reported within the approved Budget
  • Maintain the database for the cost variation, additional works, technical input from each project to facilitate the consecutive D projects.

  • Monthly review of class status reports of various societies (Lloyds, DNV, ABS, NK), and update 5 yearly planning dry-docking schedules, circulate to the concerned parties within organization

  • Plan and coordinate with Hull superintendents to arrange voyage surveys at least four (4) months in advance to complete the UTM gauging of the ships and assess the steel and coating condition
  • Prepare Technical repair specification in close co-ordination with vessel staffs and Vessel Managers using DD-software REFMAN, review the final specification with Vessel Manager / Docking superintendent / Dry-docking director and finalize at least 3 months advance prior to docking
  • RFQ to various shipyards for the vessel’s due for docking at least three (3) months in advance with respect to the ship’s trading pattern
  • Prepare Yard Comparison reports based on the quotations received, evaluate and report to Management for the cost-effective docking after due consideration of location and deviation point
  • Follow up and correspond with shipyards to finalize company’s Standard Repair contracts & Block deal agreement etc
  • As applicable including demurrage clause
  • Record copies of each Repair Contract agreements, Quotations and correspondences
  • Plan and list out the requirements of major & long lead items such as anchor chains, Hull/ Hold/Tank paints, Spares for the Stern tube seals, ME Turbocharger, Steering gear, Valves, Zinc anodes & other consumables from the planned docking
  • Negotiate with makers / vendors in advance to fix the price
  • Prepare docking Budget estimate at least two (2) months in advance in the company’s prescribed format, obtain approval from the Management and Principals
  • Prepare detailed weekly cost-Update-Reports for Shipyard & Owners Arrangement to control the expenditure on the ongoing projects On completion of repairs, assess the shipyard draft invoices thoroughly basis quoted price, delivery time and remarks made by the Superintendents
  • Negotiate with Yard for an amicable settlement and at the same time to make sure the company receives the absolute minimum cost from the completed docking
  • On completion of docking, prepare drydocking variance reports for each docking and send to principals/commercial for final approval
  • Identify areas for improvements in systems and advise Dry-docking director
  • Work with members of the Project team to provide seamless information transfer
