Role: Performance test lead

Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of 7 members both in Singapore and India.
• Handle multiple projects for performance testing.
• Bring in process changes to better streamline the delivery.
• Involve in Non-functional requirement gathering, strategize test plan, prepare test scripts, test execution, test result analysis and document/present test exit report.
• Developed utilities using Java and excel macro to automate repetitive tasks improve the team's efficiency.
• Worked in web applications, mobile applications, MQ based apps and web services.
• Utilized Dynatrace, Splunk, DNT for performance monitoring.
• AWR Reports were used for analyzing the DB performance.
• Because I have java development background, I better guide the team in performance analysis and identify root cause of performance issues.

Client: Visa (Aug 2019 - Mar 2022)

Role: Individual contributor (Java development)

Responsibilities:

• Visa had a requirement to develop a product that can parse log files from multiple applications and make a comparison report between different releases.
• I worked on gathering the requirements, design the UI of the product, develop the product from scratch.
• The technology used were JavaFx, Java, Excel and Oracle.
• This product is for internal purpose and is used by multiple teams within VISA.

• As an individual contributor worked in the development of a Luxoft product called Comparator that is used by financial institutions for the purpose of log file comparison between multiple releases of various banking applications.
• The product comparator was based in Java and SQL Server.

• Worked in performance testing the Murex based product "Razor" in Agile mode.
• Murex macro scripts were prepared for simulating user actions in Murex screens.
• Developed a java based utility that is used to simulate the load from upstream systems to Murex. The utility publishes multiple MXML messages to Murex queues simultaneously.
• Knowledgeable in various logs that Murex creates such as MXTiming, VIT, Workflow and Error logs. Trace the trades in Murex general monitor and STPDOC Entry table.
• Used Control-M for performance testing batch jobs.

• Worked on Automation and Performance testing for the web based application "Venom".
• In automation testing, Java based utility was created for posting messages to the application and capturing the response. Eventually the utility generates a test result report.
• Loadrunner was used for performance testing.
• JProbe, Perfmon, AWR Reports from DB were used for performance analysis.

Client: DBS

Responsibilities:

• Worked with a team of architects to assess the architecture of the existing applications in DBS under load conditions.
• JProbe, a profiling tool was used to identify any memory and cpu bottlenecks in the application.
• Rational performance tester was used for generating load to the application.
• Detailed assessments were provided highlighting the recommendations to improve the application's overall Memory/CPU utilization.
• Architectural changes were suggested to eliminate pain points.

Client: ANZ Bank

Responsibilities

• As a senior test engineer, I did performance testing, analysis and reporting of multiple applications of ANZ bank.
• Loadrunner was the load testing tool used. Perfmon, JProfiler were used to monitor and analyze the application's performance.
• Application fine tuning recommendations in the middle layer and database were made to significantly improve the performance.

Client 1: Lloyds Bank (2009-2011)

Client 2: British Sky Broadcasting Corporation (2011-2012)

Responsibilities:

• Performance testing for web thin client and thick client applications using Loadrunner was performed.
• Involved in the entire cycle of performance testing such as requirement gathering, test planning, test script preparation, test result analysis and performance test exit report.
• Established an onshore and offshore model of operation for the project (BSkyB).
• Managed a team of size 9.

• Performance testing the applications of the US based Retail Giant Supervalu using Loadrunner.
• Performed root cause analysis using tools such as JProbe, SQL Profiler, SQL Developer to identify the performance bottleneck at the code level.
• Identified application design level and data model level issues that resulted in increased application stability.
• Involved in the end to end cycle of performance testing.

Client: Oracle

Responsibilities:

• Worked on performance engineering for a new venture from Oracle called as Social CRM.
• Used Loadrunner for performance testing. JProbe, ANTS Profiler, AWR Report analysis, Perfmon to do extensive root cause analysis of the application.
• The development background enabled me to suggest code changes to improve performance.
• Developed utility tools using excel macro to automate the manual repetitive tasks.

• Worked in education domain to build applications used by US based colleges.
• Involved in Application development using Java/SQL Server along with that, worked in performance testing the application using Loadrunner.
• Did SQL execution plan analysis to identify the indexing or fine tuning scope.
• Worked in developing an automation product that can scan a web application's front end code to generate a repository of UI objects. A test engineer can choose any UI objects from the repository and mention what activity to be performed with that object. Save the definition as a test case. Choose which automation tool to execute the test case with for e.g. QTP, Rational Robot. The properties of the UI object along with the action performed with it, will be generated as a code in the selected automation tool. The automation tool will be launched for execution. With this product, an automation tester need not know to script in automation tool.
• The second automation tool developed was for automating performance testing. Given the scripts location, number of users for each test, runtime settings, duration details and number of tests in an xml file, the tool will launch Loadrunner controller and performs all the defined series of test executions. Send email notification with test result summary post completing the tests.
• All developments were done with Java.
