Primary responsibilities:

• Perform specialised laboratory tests in blood group determination and pre-transfusion testing for the detection of clinically significant antibodies and compatibility testing for blood transfusion recipients
• Provide serological support to public and private hospitals and laboratories which may encounter difficulties in red cell antibody identification cases as well as complex blood grouping cases, including but not limited to subgroup A/B/O/Rh groups and Variant D blood groupings
• Preparation and issuance of specialised blood products to all hospitals, for example, the preparation of pediatric blood products
• Ensure the safe and appropriate use of blood products like the selection of compatible blood components needed for blood transfusion, including for patients that may have more complex transfusion requirements
