Samuel Teoh

With my experience as a technician and through projects involving building and troubleshooting, I have cultivated a keen interest in electronics and future technology, and become adept with building and servicing my own devices. Through my experiences in school and with new projects, I hope to hone my craft, gaining more in-depth knowledge and ability to not only build but also design future technologies.

1. Completed a Design Thinking and Innovation Project named: "safety4lab"

• Safety4lab is a functional first draft prototype for a reusable motion activated emergency stop system for use in high risk and sensitive areas of any fabrication lab. Safety4lab is inspired by my strong intolerance for unsafe behavior or potential hazards inexperienced students may face when working alone in a shop environment.
• Safety4lab aims to break the connection of any fabrication lab machinery, as soon as quick sudden motion in a lateral or downward direction is detected, minimizing injury in the event of an accident.
• I learned to code for Arduino boards, while improving my hard skills such as planning board design for ESP32 devices and soldering through hole components.

2. Completed a project "PassiiVault" during the Freshmore Asian Cross-curricular Trips (FACT) programme at Fulbright University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

• PassiiVault is a functional price and quality assessment matrix using basic mathematical systems to calculate an overall score for an article of second hand clothing to objectively determine a fair retail price.
• I learned to design basic UI for a mobile app, and created a basic mathematical matrix for calculating with multiple variables while compensating for other factors in order to provide a reasonable useful scoring system.
