- Plan daily and weekly work targets and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Oversee installation of mechanical systems including piping, machinery, equipment, supports, valves, and foundations.
- Ensure proper alignment, fitting, torqueing, and mechanical assembly as per manufacturer and class requirements.
- Coordinate pre-commissioning activities such as flushing, pressure testing, hydro testing, and mechanical completion.
- Enforce shipyard safety rules, WSH requirements, and permit-to-work controls.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure workers understand job hazards and control measures.
- Stop unsafe work and report hazards, near misses, and incidents to site management promptly.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with QA/QC procedures, class rules, and owner specifications.
- Carry out first-level inspections before offering works for internal QC, class, or client inspection.
- Rectify punch list items, defects, and non-conformities within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate mechanical activities with structure, electrical, instrumentation, and painting teams to avoid clashes.
- Liaise with engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors during execution of works.
- Support class surveyors and owner representatives during inspections and tests.
- Maintain daily progress reports, material usage logs, and manpower tracking.
- Report delays, equipment issues, and technical challenges to the project engineer or construction manager.
- Ensure all mechanical work stages are documented for class and owner approval.
- Verify availability of drawings, materials, tools, and equipment before work commencement.
