With PHINMA Education, I have been instrumental in pursuing the mission of # Making Lives Better Through Education. By intent and by design, we have made our education accessible to those who need it most- the underserved. We have improved the quality of our programs so that those who graduate from our schools are work ready, with the skills and competencies that employers need. We ensure that those who take board programs are prepared for the licensure examinations that they need to take to practice their profession. Through operational efficiencies, we have been able to bring down the cost of operations without sacrificing the qaulity of education, ensuring that the operational efficiencies translate to reduced tuition fees that are accessible to the students we serve.
As Country Head of Phinma Education Philippines, I managed the expansion of our network from four to eight colleges and universities. Under my leadership, the student population grew from 37,000 in 2014 to 95,000 by 2021. I also spearheaded improvements in academic quality, achieving an average board exam passing rate of 79% across all programs. This positioned Phinma Education as a leading education network and laid the foundation for continued growth. Today, Phinma Education has expanded to nine colleges and universities, serving 150,000 students, making it the largest network of schools in Southeast Asia.
As Chief Operations Officer at Cagayan de Oro College, I played a pivotal role in transforming the institution from a struggling school into the leading private university in Northern Mindanao. When I began, the student population stood at around 4,000. Through strategic operational improvements and initiatives, I helped drive growth to approximately 12,000 students. Today, Cagayan de Oro College has over 33,000 students, making it the largest private university in the region.
In my work at AMA, I have supervised various educational institutions, including 42 AMA computer colleges focused on IT education, 25 ABE business colleges, and SASN campuses specializing in healthcare education. My responsibilities included overseeing academic operations, reviewing and reformulating curricula and syllabi, and developing marketing strategies. I also supervised the construction and development of new schools, ensured the provision of appropriate laboratory facilities, managed the hiring and firing of both academic and non-academic staff, and worked closely with government regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits. Additionally, I was responsible for the planning and budgeting of these schools to ensure smooth operations and sustainable growth.
I managed the day-to-day operations of a nationwide storefront network consisting of 12 regions, 250 company-owned retail branches, and 400 agencies. I established monitoring systems to provide real-time traffic and revenue reports, ensuring informed decision-making. Additionally, I facilitated the communication and implementation of new products and systems across the operations organization, securing support for various initiatives. I also promoted expansion efforts through strategic agency agreements to drive growth.
