  • Perform shift duties and operate the radar-based Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS) to direct and give information regards to the ship traffic in the Singapore Port waters
  • Management of channels and fairways in Singapore waters to prevent traffic congestion and giving clearance to vessels entering and leaving the terminals/berths to ensure safe movement
  • Provide authorised information to vessels appropriate to the level of service required, so that the harbour pilots can decide on the actions to be taken
  • Operate equipment for communications e.g., VHF channels, data collection and analysis and for establishing traffic image using radar and marine navigational system such as the Automatic Identification System (AIS)
  • Other duties include distress watch keeping and attending to marine incidents as well as coordinating with other external agencies.

  • Plan, schedule and deploy pilotage and towage resources in the East Johor Strait as well as in the eastern and western areas of Singapore port waters
