Dr. Villegas, “Marie” is a board certified Pediatrics Oncologist with extensive clinical and trial experience in Pediatrics Blood/ Marrow Transplantation (BMT) in both malignant and non-malignant diseases. She is successful in transitioning to a CRO career where she was a therapeutic expert even in adult solid tumor, hematologic and cellular therapy clinical trials as recognized by colleagues and sponsors.
In her work as a Pediatrics Hematology/ Oncology/ BMT Division of NUH Singapore, she was part of the clinical team that executed clinical, research, education, and administrative duties for over 10 years. She was the Designated Assistant Quality Officer, Pediatrics Blood/Marrow Transplant Program's Foundation for Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) accreditation working committee that was the instrumental contributor to the FACT NUH BMT program (adult & pediatrics) accreditation – the first in the ASEAN.
Dr. Villegas’ clinical trial experience covers patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia in Singapore and Malaysia. Her research therapeutic experience includes emerging cellular therapies (activated NK cell therapy, expanded NK cell therapy and CD19 CAR-T Cells).
She likewise published research that encompasses novel therapeutics (CD45RA T-Cell Depleted Haplo-identical BMT), graft vs host disease, immune reconstitution post BMT, late effects, and epidemiology.
In her free time, Dr. Villegas likes to bake while listening to her favorite artist Pink. She is also involved in a lot of community programs in the Philippines from providing scholarships to indigent children and providing food and shelter to stray animals.
