CONVERSION OF EXTERNAL PLUNDGE GRINDING MACHINE FROM HYDRAULIC TO SERVO PLC BASED SYSTEM 2013

• The External Plunge Grinding Machine (EPG) is a type of grinding machine used to shape the outside of an object. The cylindrical grinder can work on a variety of shapes, however the object must have a central axis of rotation (i.eA bearing).
• This machine is used in the company to shape the outer diameter of bearings. At present the machine is working in hydraulic based positioning system leading to some minute irregularities. Replacing this hydraulic system with a servo motor operated using a PLC for accurate positioning will overcome the errors and irregularities of the existing system.
• The PLC will control the servo operation using a pulse generator and encoder attached with the servo motor which are configured with help of the servo drive. Different feedrates are used at different positions (differing in micro scale) on the work piece are programmed with help of the PLC.
• The main aim of this project is to develop a Servo Based PLC system for shaping the outer diameter of the bearings using the EPG machine.

DESIGN OF CASCADE CONTROL FOR BOILER LEVEL USING MATLAB 2016

• Combustion boilers are designed to use the chemical energy,to raise the energy content of water so that it can be used for heating and power applications.
• During the combustionprocess, oxygen reacts with carbon, hydrogen, and other elements in the fuel to produce a flame and hotcombustion gases.
• The control strategies now used in modern industrial boiler systems boilers operated at low pressure, it was reasonably inexpensive to make the steam drum large.
• Manual or automatic adjustment of the feedwater valve in response to liquid level variations was an effective control strategy.
• Cascade Control is one of the most successful methods for enhancing single loop control performance. Cascade uses an additional measurement of a process variable to assist in the control system. The cascade control system contains couple of controls loop .They are primary loop and secondary loop.
• Boiler is the most important pneumatic &thermal equipment used. In cascade control of boiler the output of the primary controller is given as set point to the secondary controller. In the control system ,the primary object is the outlet stream pressure and the secondary object is the liquid level in the boiler.
• MATLAB has many advantages compared to conventional languages. MATLAB improves the performance and stability of boiler level.
