Senior Assistant Director (MDW Engagement Unit)

  • Led a team of 7 officers to execute comms and engagement strategies which includes the creation of digital channels, e.g., a mobile app, WhatsApp menu bot for multiple platforms to reach out to stakeholders, e.g., MDWs, MDWs employers, etc.
  • Developed a content strategy to drive organic and paid traffic to the ministry’s owned channels (Facebook, TikTok, website, eDM and mobile app).
  • Oversaw the production of content for online and OOH platforms, tracked performance reports and played an integral part in the development and execution of marketing campaigns, e.g., work safety and anti-scam for MDWs.
  • Managed and optimised diverse communication channels, including eDM, TikTok, and traditional media. Led the team to launch new comms channels, i.e., WhatsApp Infobot for MDWs and Infohub (publications and resources for employers of MDWs) for MDW employers in 2024.
  • Oversaw budget allocation and vendor management for marcomms initiatives.
  • Led the team to implement programmes and comms efforts targeted at MDWs, MDW employers and employment agency personnel to help them understand their rights and obligations. This includes appointing training providers to conduct programmes, e.g., MDW Settling-in-Programme, Employer Orientation Programme, Certificate of Employment Intermediaries, etc.
  • Led the team to work with partner NGOs, e.g., FAST, ADEO and other mental health organisations, to implement initiatives to promote the mental well-being of MDWs.
  • Created a support network for MDWs mental well-being by working with partners, i.e., FAST/ADEO, to kickstart the Train-the-Trainer programme for MDW volunteers so that they can conduct the PFA programme in MDW native languages and develop a 'grassroot concept' for MDWs to look out for one another in the community.

  • Launched WhatsApp channel, growing it to 50,000 MDW subscribers (20% of target population) within the first year
  • Spearheaded the development of Infohub on the MOM website, attracting 20,000 MDW employer visits through strategic Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
  • Consistently maintained over 60% open rate for eDMs, significantly above industry standards, using a data-driven approach to analyse content consumption trends

  • Responsible for the upholding the compliance of the low wage sectors (security, cleaning, landscaping, etc.) with the Employment Act (EA) via punitive actions (ranging from prosecution to warning) against errant employers.

  • Partnered relevant sector agencies (PLRD, NEA) on enforcement of the wage requirements under the Progressive Wage Model and annual grading of security agencies.
