Despite not having prior work experience, I learned the ropes of the job and other responsibilities beyond my assigned position very quickly. Being in such a fast-paced work environment also taught me how to handle multiple demands at once while keeping customers happy. The main takeaways I had from this job experience was learning to effectively communicate with my co-workers and customers and not being afraid to ask for help. These have helped me to manage overwhelming demands and execute my tasks beyond expectations. In addition, as the restaurant did not have any air conditioning, working 9 hours or longer shifts in the sweltering heat of Singapore made it even more difficult to handle the busy flow of customers we regularly had. However, under these conditions, I ensured I stayed even more alert and optimistic so as not to affect my performance.
I was mainly in charge of serving food to the customers, however, as the restaurant was rather big and constantly busy, I had to learn to take orders, bill customers and tend to whatever concerns the customers had. I also helped with closing the restaurant which includes sweeping, moping, clearing tables, etc.
