Kum Wah Wan

Richard Wan (Wan Kum Wah) actively holds a few jobs. He has been a film producer/songwriter/real estate KEO and importantly an educator since 1983. He has even been a shipping engineer with ExxonMobil in his early days. His lifelong mission lies on education and has been teaching as a home tutor and free lance teacher in learning centres/schools for the past 41 years. Apart, he has worked with Ministry of Education on curriculum planning, Lee Kuan Yew Bilingualism team and written books for Singapore Asian Publications, Marshall Cavendish and various book publishers on learning materials. Today education involves setting learners’ own goals, tracking progress and spatial reasoning in whatever they learn in schools. Because of this, it is essential to reimagine new creative ways to improvise good learning programme (for instance, Mathematics: the questions are no longer direct but think out-of-the box) to face existential challenges and future industrial applications. We need to innovate. With rich industrial experience and a fluent instructor, Richard Wan has been coaching with some innovative and modified ways in working with students aligning with the current school settings. There have been lots of testimony across previous students, parents, press media and even schools themselves.

As a film maker, he has made remarkable achievements in his lifelong pursuit to excellence. Richard Wan Kum Wah is though an educator, he is also a song writer and animation producer in Singapore. Since 1990, he has written more than 50 television drama theme songs. He has won several international laurels and recognition worldwide. His children’s songs have piqued immense interest among educational fields all over the world. As an educator, he has won the Best Global Teacher Awards and Best International Education Community Leader Award respectively in India and Russia. He produces children songs to inculcate modern education and to start at a child’s level. We have proven children’s educational songs and animation music videos provide some better solutions to early literacy skills and broader school achievement. As a film producer, he has been producing works that are globally recognized and well-received.

Lastly, other than an ExxonMobil scholar in Singapore Polytechnic far back in 1983 as a marine enginner, Richard Wan has also graduated from Singapore Institute of Land Valuers and Surveyors and possesses a real estate licence under his personal management VVM Enterprise (a certified realty agency under CEA) and has years of estate management in residential properties (sales and tendency). He has also been with ERA, Julie Housing and ever worked with Far East Commercial in some projects in the past.

He is a writer, creator, real estate KEO, salesperson, speaker, teacher, educator, project planner and multi task man.
