[Building on my interest in medicine, I sought hands-on experience. I spent several days observing medical staff at a clinic and also arranged a week shadowing ENT doctors at a hospital. I observed a multi-disciplinary team managing a patient with throat cancer complicated by diabetes. Watching doctors and nurses coordinate seamlessly to address every aspect of the patient’s needs taught me the crucial interplay of clear communication between team members. But the realities of medicine were equally revealing. I saw the long hours and the emotional weight that doctors carried, giving me an insight into the sacrifices of this profession; however, it also solidified my resolve.]
