• Lead the structural design and optimization of composite components for an eVTOL aircraft demonstrator, ensuring compliance with performance, weight, manufacturability, and regulatory standards.
• Define structural requirements and load cases, and optimize laminate stacking sequences, material selection, and fabrication processes for strength, stiffness, and long-term durability.
• Drive design validation through rigorous testing, including material characterization, sub-component assessments, and proof load tests.
• Collaborate across disciplines with aerodynamicists, stress analysts, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and production viability.
• Support knowledge transfer and communication, producing technical documentation, assisting Principal Investigators, and mentoring students and junior researchers.

• Plan and develop workflow for the design, fabrication and characterization of composite structures
• Interpret 3D models and 2D sketches to design composite structure fabrication processes and prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with process instructions.
• Perform structural analysis by classical hand calculation and finite element analysis for composites

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

• Establish design reference standards and implement NDT QC methodologies and inspection procedures, primarily using Ultrasonic and Laser Shearography techniques.
• Work with the design engineering, testing, and QA teams to create robust inspection processes that have the right level of resolution for the application, acceptable process throughput
• Source inspection equipment and work with suppliers to build inspection capability needed to support aggressive production rates

• Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and standards (ASTM, MIL-SPEC) for composite fabrication and material testing.
• Perform structural bonding and assembly of composite panels using various adhesives, sealants, and hybrid joint techniques.
• Conduct tooling prep and testing operations, including mold maintenance, fixture setup, and use of the UTM and thermal test systems.

• Hands-on composite fabrication using prepreg layups, wet layups, and vacuum infusion in a collaborative workshop environment.
• Skilled in safe and efficient use of power tools, air tools, hand tools, and saws.
• Support process development and project coordination, including new manufacturing methods and timeline/status updates.
