Job overview

Projects: Strategic Motorway Programme Alliance (SMPA) Water Quality Programme (Duration April 2023 - January 2024)

Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) Water Quality Programme (Duration February 2024 - May 2024)

Highway England Specialist, Professional, and Technical Services framework (SPaTS) Water Quality Programme (Duration June 2024 - March 2025)

Clients: National Highways

Role: Originator, Reviewer, Checker

The projects focused on assessing the environmental risk status of all assets due to Sediment wash-off on highways. The assets were evaluated and categorized as either High Risk or Low Risk. Assets identified as High Risk are expected to progress through the Feasibility, Detailed Design, and Construction stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct verification process, including determination of Overall Risk Status, reporting, and updating HADDMS.
  • Perform Spillage Risk, assessment of Routine Runoff using Highways England water risk assessment tool (HEWRAT)
  • Perform assessment Metal Bio-availability Assessment Tool (M-BAT) for Tier 2 assessment failures.
  • Conduct cumulative assessment of HEWRAT and M-BAT for outfall clusters.
  • Conduct Non-Standard Priority Outfall assessments – preliminary considerations for canal, lake, reservoir, brackish & tidal outfalls
  • Conduct Checks and Reviews as designated engineer to ensure OCRA process compliance, for SDF and SPaTS projects.
  • Ensure technical assurance process by partner agencies for each of the outfalls and soakaways.
  • Achieved successful project outcomes by maintaining accurate documentation and meeting strict deadlines.

National Flood Risk Assessment (NAFRA2), Environment Agency Project (Duration: November 2023 – May 2024)

Clients: Environment Agency, UK.

Role: Engineer

The project primarily focused on reviewing Flood Zones and national flood risk mapping products set for publication in NaFRA2. Its goal was to ensure the quality of these mapping products, which were developed using both local modelled data and the New National Modelling (NNM). These updates may lead to modifications in Flood Zone content and the final flood mapping products.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation of DTM error and model setup issues.
  • Output extent and depth error checks.
  • Identification of missing and/or incorrect assets.
  • Implementation of SuDS and other defenses.
  • Evaluation of consistency of flood maps for different return periods.
  • Presented technical findings to stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of project status and goals.

Flood Risk Assessment for Effluent transfer from STW for Lichfield, UK (Duration: January 2025 – March 2025)

Clients: Lichfield District.

Role: Lead Engineer

  • The project primarily focused on providing a flood risk assessment report for upgrading STW plant capacities in Lichfield district based on current and future demands.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate existing FRA reports for the sites within the district and prepare detailed reports.
  • Study the redesigned STW and evaluate the effect on fluvial, pluvial, and groundwater flood along the conveyance channel.
  • Prepare a comprehensive technical report summarizing findings, and provide clear recommendations on the most appropriate flood mitigation or management strategies.

Interdisciplinary Centre for Water Research (ICWaR)

Research Associate
08.2018 - 08.2022

Job overview

Project:

Impact Assessment of Climate and Land-Use/Land-cover Changes on Hydrology and Stormwater Drain Network of Bangalore City.

Clients: Ministry of Human Resource Development

Role: Researcher, Project manager

The project aimed to investigate historical climate patterns and land use/land cover (LULC) changes in Bangalore, as well as construct potential future scenarios. The research assessed the impacts of LULC changes on Bangalore’s climate and examine the combined effects of climate and LULC changes on runoff across various sub-catchments. Additionally, the study was focused on how runoff triggered by extreme storm events contributes to flooding in the region.

Role Overview:

  • Conduct independent research to fulfill project objectives and author research papers and technical documents.
  • Oversee project management, ensuring timely progress, goal achievement, and financial tracking of budgets against actual costs.
  • Procure necessary data for analysis, establish guidelines for methodology execution, and maintain quality standards.
  • Mentor project staff and research students, facilitating discussions with the Professor to validate findings and refine results.
  • Prepare project reports and presentations, providing timely updates to agencies and stakeholders on project progress.
  • Develop papers for publication in technical journals and conferences, contributing to the broader academic and professional discourse.
  • Monitored progress against project timelines, ensuring timely completion of deliverables while maintaining high-quality standards.

Evaluate Lake Restoration Approaches for Bangalore International Airport.

Clients: Bangalore International Airport Ltd.

Role: Consultant

The project aimed to quantify the amount of runoff generated within the airport, based on rainfall intensity, drainage infrastructure to develop a hydrological model. The study evaluated strategies for safely discharging this runoff into lakes surrounding the airport assessing existing drainage systems, proposing improvements, and ensuring that runoff management methods minimized flood risks and environmental impacts.

Role Overview:

  • Develop a rainfall runoff model for the airport, accounting for existing conditions and future expansion scenarios.
  • Conduct flood modeling studies for the airport and surrounding areas, creating flood maps for historical events and design storms.
  • Engage with stakeholders through regular meetings, providing updates on project progress and key findings
