Responsibilities in the Centre

• Integrate understanding of how children (birth to age 8) learn to develop.
• Plan, supervise and implement programme activities in the classroom and beyond classroom settings aligned to curriculum frameworks.
• Customize teaching, learning and caregiving approaches aligned to curriculum frameworks.
• Customize classroom management strategies to observe and document children's learning.
• Integrate the core values and early childhood education through classroom activities and programmes.
• Design quality learning environments and be responsible for periodically changing the classroom displays, charts, decorations, and learning environment before a new term starts and maintain them in good condition.
• Strengthen guidance strategies for children.
• Advocate for health, safety, nutritional and hygiene standards and procedures and advocate for appropriate course of action for the protection of children to create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for children to work and play.
• Carry out routine care duties with safety and hygiene standards in accordance to SOP.
• Plan, conduct and evaluate in monthly peer teaching and learning session, providing guidance and support to colleagues in order to enhance their daily practices.
• Conduct induction programme for new staff and be a Host Teacher for practicum students or Polytechnic interns.
• Conduct school tours in absence of the Principal and guide teachers in preparing children portfolios.
• Plan the deployment of staff work roster to ensure duties covered while promoting work cohesiveness and cooperation during any absence of staff or in absence of Principal.
• Strengthen home-centre partnerships and contribute to the marketing programs, parents' discussion groups to promote the school and its philosophy.
• Lead collaborative projects with community stakeholders to promote the school and its philosophy.
• Guide and support colleagues to engage in continuous learning and reflective practice.
• Demonstrate understanding and uphold the centre's vision, mission and core values.
• To undertake other related duties when assigned.

Responsibilities to the Children

• Customize and implement differentiated teaching and learning strategies to meet the diverse needs of children.
• Evaluate differentiated teaching and learning strategies taught to the children to ensure their progress.
• Attend to all children's physical care and emotional well-being by responding to and comforting children who are distressed or unwell.
• Model trusting, respectful relationships with children through positive interactions that reflect the philosophy and policies of the school, and in accordance with ECDA regulations.
• Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for the diversity of social and cultural backgrounds of the children in your care.
• Communicate with the parents by writing comments on the child's well-being, progress, etc. in the Parent Teacher-Communication Chat box via the school application.
• Systemically observe and document children's holistic development and prepare a developmental portfolio for each child and complete progress report by the end of semester.
• Prepare developmentally appropriate teaching aids and source materials to support children's learning in various curriculum areas.
• Develop structure for sustained collaborative partnerships with families and community with at least 2 activities to support parents in facilitating their child's development at home.
• Provide parents with materials to help them facilitate their children's development at home.
