Djamal Zaid

I was part of the internship programme at Able Fire Control Pte Ltd during my time of studies in Higher NItec, From there, I manage to learn new skills and more knowledge such as the types of fire extinguisher classes, the uses of the class on certain types of fires, the types of fire alarms and how to work on the power board for the fire alarms. I was also given the opportunity to go on-site and go to companies and factories to work on the faults of the building such as the fire hose, the alarm and also restocking the fire extinguishers. Through this internship programme, I developed skills through hands-on work and manage to increase my own personal knowledge as well.

I worked as a part-timer with SATS Changi Airport, Terminal 4 which requires me to handle the baggage of the passengers loading and unloading from Baggage trolley. Through the work, I manage to pick up the importance on time management and also the importance on how fast work must be done. It was challenging for me at first as I had to carry heavy bags and also be swift in my work at the same time but the next few days afterwards got simpler for me and I got used to the weight of the baggage and improved on my time management. I also learned that there is a time to work and there is time to just relax and just talk to the workers to hear on their work experiences and gain more knowledge from their work experience. I was also guided by the seniors there on how to get the work done.
