• Sailed as Chief Engineer in 5 different vessels mostly are on Product & Chemical tankers and one bulk carrier. was responsible for the duties below.
• All scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and administration of all shipboard equipment and machinery including the hull
• For accurately maintaining maintenance logs for all vessel related equipment, such as engine room equipment, mechanical and electrical, deck machinery and equipment, ship, hull, hotel facilities etc.
• Responsible for the day-to-day organization of the Engine Room department onboard directly or through delegation, and the supervision thereof
• Responsible for all reporting and history updating into the planned maintenance program
• Responsible through delegation for computer networks and prevention of unauthorized software being installed and used
• Responsible for the administration and upkeep of the vessel's Planned Maintenance System
• Responsible for the upkeep of relevant machinery surveys and certification
• Maintain current and complete vendors' manual for all vessel related equipment.
• Ensure, through uniform stock & quantity control that adequate inventory and level of spares is maintained at all times
• Responsible for refusing unsafe work and for carrying out all work in accordance with the established safety standards and work practices.
• Taking part in emergency and occupational onboard training such as, the use of self-contained breathing apparatus, firefighting, man overboard exercises, lifeboat launching, security drills and/or other training as applicable for the function. Wearing, inspecting and caring for required personal protective equipment.
• Managed Complete day to day technical operation of one Chemical Tanker, 02 no’s Lift boat and 01 no AHTS.
• Overseeing the daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules and docking and ensure compliance to the statutory requirements of vessel.
• Closely monitored performance of all vessels and ensure that Charter Party requirements are being fulfilled. Identified reasons for deviation if any and taken remedial measures.
• Taken over new vessel from Shipyard and set up complete SMS and PMS system and prepared vessel for guarantee Claims.
• Vessel taken over from different management and set up complete SMS and PMS system and prepared vessel for trading after completing all statutory requirements.
• Supervised and guided the IT team to develop & build up a proper database for the ABS NS5 PMS.
• Actively involved in selection of senior officers and their appraisal reports. Also evaluate the performance of crew on board and maintain their records.
• Maintain operating cost budgets of vessels keeping in mind the latest statutory, Government and Port regulations. Instruct and supervise the Purchasing Assistant of his day-to-day responsibility and ensure upkeep of up-to-date performance records.
• Carried out periodical inspection of vessels and prepared a detailed report and review same with the Manager, formulate an upgradation plan and follow-up with the vessel. Also reported about defects/damage/accidents to authorities & class when required and taken action to rectify.
