Sterile Supply Technician

Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and troubleshoot instrument malfunctions or defects
Proficient in computerized instrument tracking systems and documentation software
Train and mentor new sterile supplies technicians, ensuring their adherence to sterilization protocols and best practices
Loading and unloading of RMDs into the correct washers
Provide direct technical processing of Reusable medical devices (RMD)
Ensure accuracy of process of quality assurance/control is in compliance and relative to infection prevention and control standards and practices
Understand and follow the policies, procedures, and guidelines in use in CSSD
Participate in the introduction of new processes, policies, and development in the department
Ensure that the correct washing process is selected and used
Loading of Reusable medical devices (RMs) is consistent in achieving an effectively cleaned item
Identify urgent equipment for priority processing
Ensures that all practices are compliant with Sterilization Standard
Ensure that Reusable medical devices (RMDs) to be disinfected are processed as per relevant policies and standards
All required documentation is completed
Conducts all machine tests according to process for each machine and reports any faults or errors
Ensures that RMDs are inspected and tested as required and specific to each RMD
All issues are reported to the CSSD Supervisor or Manager
All RMDs are packaged in the correct manner as specified in T-doc or via written recipes
Ensures that the correct sterilization process is selected and used (Steam, Sterrad, etc.) as appropriate
Ensures that all documentation is completed and notifies the Supervisor or manager of any machine faults
Conducts all machine tests according to process for each machine and reports any faults or errors
Monitor each sterilizer, each load, and all load items
Ensures correct storage and distribution processes are maintained and in compliance with department standards and Standard Sterilization
Ensures all required documentation is completed as indicated by Sterilization Standard and department policies and standards
Ensures that a clean, tidy, and safe work area is maintained at all times
Undertake annual appraisal, establishing and achieving goals and objectives
Maintain own clinical competence
Is required to work towards achieving Sterilizing Course Certificate
Participates in all learning opportunities provided
Completes and maintains a professional portfolio
Always works collaboratively with CSSD staff and customers
