Having worked in different industries over the span of 3-4 years, I have picked up many skills that help me now and will help me is the future as I apply for other jobs. The skills listed are some of the skills that I have picked up in my years of working. I look to not only sharpen my skills but also pick up more skills as I apply for jobs now and in the near future.
Working at Decathlon was a completely new experience for me, working it retail. It was quite a shift from Food and Beverage but with Decathlon I learnt how to adapt and work quickly. Decathlon regularly changed its POS systems as well as store layout and as ground staff we had to be ready to change the layouts and assist customers regarding any new system updates as well. We too had to adapt and learn quickly to assist customers better. Having a good knowledge of the sports products offered was also a must and being able to work in high stress situations was something that I honed while working at Decathlon. Having to ensure that I could meet customer needs and serve them well while ensuring that everything is in order and good have been stocked was stressful but it really thought me how to be composed and patient as well.
This was my second Food and Beverage job experience. It was very different from the bakery however, as this time I worked at a coffeeshop just downstairs my house. Working in a coffeeshop meant working with older colleagues as well as serving older customers. It took awhile to adapt but at Old Village, I learnt how to take many orders and improve on communication skills with customers and colleagues alike. Having to ensure that the cook understood the orders and special requests with important for customer satisfaction and I learned this skill after working here. As a kitchen staff I also picked up housekeeping skills which helped me ensure the kitchen was up to standard and always clean.
Working at Bakery Brera was my first job. It was a very interesting and enriching experience working in a bakery. Working in the kitchen with the other bakers is an experience I won't forget. I learnt a lot working in the kitchen such as how to multitask and work effectively, ensuring that I can complete my tasks on time. I also learnt how to be meticulous with my work. Towards the end of the month I was asked to do cashiering as well and it was there I slowly developed my customer service skills and how to think on the spot. It was my first job experience but it laid the groundwork for me to develop and pick up new skillsets.
