A seasoned marine professional throughout entire career. Career began in 1972 as deck officer on ocean-going merchant ships for 5 years in a British firm, Straits Steamship Company Ltd. I have sailed on general cargo ships, oil tanker and passenger ships. In 1981, began career onshore as a marine surveyor with an international marine survey and consultants, Cleghorn, Wilton & Associates. Subsequently, after 5 years as a marine surveyor, took up an interest and worked as claims correspondents at McAlister/Spica Services, servicing various international Protection & Indemnity Associations (P&I Clubs). In 1989, accepted the offer as Insurance & Claims Manager, with Regional Container Lines, a regional joint venture container feeder shipping line serving worldwide. After 10 years in the shipping company, resumed work as a claim correspondent with Seasia P&I Services, servicing fixed premium P&I Cubs, In 2002, I was invited and joined an international general insurance company, QBE Insurance International, to head the marine claims and risk department. In 2013, got promoted to the Regional Marine Claims Technical Specialists for QBE Asia Pacific region, overseeing and managing 16 countries. Following company policy, employment with QBE ended in December 2019. Currently, holding the position of Head of Department for marine claims in India Insurance International since February 2020.
