Work History

Bioinformatics Specialist

A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore, GIS
08.2020 - Current
  • Assigned to 2 different projects as of now. One project was about Single-Cell Transcriptomics on Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and the other one was about Single-Cell Transcriptomics on Fetal Brain Development in relation to Neurodevelopmental Disorder.
  • In charge of doing various QC steps on these dataset to ensure the cleanliness of dataset (e.g. outlier removal, sample removal, missing data, technical artifacts)
  • Performed downstream analysis and data visualization on these 2 dataset to derive novel meaningful biological conclusions from the single-cell perspective (e.g. Differential Gene Analysis, Metagene Analysis, GWAS Enrichment, Cell-type Specificity, Gene-gene Correlation Analysis, etc.)
  • Wrote academic paper that is published in highly reputable journal.
  • Worked alongside a few post-doctorates and collaborative researchers from Exeter University.

Final Year Project

Nanyang Technological University
05.2019 - 05.2020
  • Applied various machine learning algorithm to predict knockdown rate of Antisense Oligonucleotide-based drug (ASO drug)
  • Revisited SVM and Polynomial Regression algorithms for further analysis of gene knockdown mechanism
  • Constructed deep CNN architecture based on SpliceAI architecture for pre-mRNA splicing site prediction.

Undergraduate Research on Campus (URECA)

Nanyang Technological University
08.2017 - 06.2018
  • In charge of writing python code to produce interneuron correlation matrix using the given time series data of firing neurons and deduce conclusion based on the result
  • Checked and modified existing python codes about populational neuron modelling to increase efficiency.

Education
