During polytechnic, I worked part-time at 4Fingers Crispy Chicken while completing a Diploma in Business Process and Systems Engineering at Temasek Polytechnic. At 4Fingers, I handled customer orders, cash transactions, and kitchen duties in a fast-paced environment, which strengthened my teamwork, time management, and adaptability. My diploma studies developed strong analytical, problem-solving, and process management skills. Following this, I served my national service as a Fire & Rescue Specialist with the Singapore Civil Defence Force, completing 22 weeks of intensive training and commanding a crew of 2–4 firefighters, responding to fires, rescues, and medical emergencies while maintaining safety and coordinating operations with the Ops Centre. The role required meticulous knowledge of all equipment and procedures, which I maintained through constant practice and careful attention to detail, ensuring I could perform effectively under pressure. I also conducted fire safety inspections with private companies, demonstrating diligence, precision, and reliability. These experiences have equipped me with leadership, discipline, technical proficiency, risk assessment, communication, problem-solving, and consistent learning habits, enabling me to perform effectively in high-pressure and dynamic environments.
As a Fire & Rescue Specialist with the Singapore Civil Defence Force, I completed 22 weeks of intensive training in emergency response, safety procedures, and technical operations before being posted to Tampines Fire Station. In this role, I commanded a crew of 2–4 firefighters as Vehicle Commander of a Pump Ladder, leading real-life responses to fires, rescues, and medical emergencies where lives and property were at stake. I was responsible for ensuring crew safety while making rapid, high-stakes decisions and applying strong risk assessment skills to evolving situations. Serving as the communications link between ground operations and the Ops Centre via the Mobile Communication Network (MCN), I relayed critical information and coordinated tactical responses under pressure. In addition, I maintained technical proficiency with specialized equipment and conducted both scheduled and unscheduled fire safety inspections in collaboration with private companies. This experience developed my leadership, discipline, precise communication, and ability to perform effectively in demanding environments.
