I was a smart student in school and went on to get a scholarship with the SAF when I enlisted. However, I was young and misguided, opting to terminate my studies in NUS after two years of falling short of the bar I had set for myself.
It was not easy to carve out a career in the SAF with such a baggage, but I've consistently shown that I am still a fast learner with a keen eye for operations and systems improvements. I am quick to understand how things work and see how they can be improved. I am fast on my feet in responding to crisis and coming up with solutions both short and long termed.
I volunteered in the midst of the pandemic to assist in the setting up of the first ever COVID-19 Surveillance Unit of its kind in the SAF in the 3rd Qtr of 2020; and hit the ground running. A set of operating procedures were developed in under 2 weeks to operationalise the unit.
In 2021, more than 180,000 personnel were swabbed across hundred of operations supporting hundreds of different units.
I am confident in my ability to value add to any organisation despite my academic qualification shortfalls.
